Saturday night and it’s almost time for the fashion show at the Hotel California, an annual event showcasing latest works from local designers. It’s also a fundraiser to support education programs for children in the area.
Robi, a friendly Belgian, warms up the crowd with flamenco-flavored selections and a little Gypsy music.
VIP hosts Gil and Cambria work the room as the photogs prep for this big happening.
Now the models make their way to the green room; many are from right here in Todos Santos while others have journeyed from Cabo San Lucas and La Paz to participate.
Rosy Ramírez, right, operates Emporio, an upscale gallery and gift shop in the hotel. A designer in her own right, Ramírez is partnering with Yucatan-based fashion star Aldrin Ayuso tonight under the Besame Mucho banner.
As the sunlight fades, duneside residente permanente Wendy watches after Yoda, who will be featured later in the show.
And now, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Wait… oh, first it’s the raffle drawing. Lots of dinners, clothing, and bottles of wine are awarded to lucky ticket holders, present company excluded.
And now, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The Besame Mucho models take to the runway.
Next up, maybe 30 minutes later, are creations found in Nomad Chic, a downtown boutique run by Linda Hamilton, right. (Please note that the presentation you are viewing at the moment hardly scratches the collective surface of the large and splendid collections on view tonight.)
Finally, it’s time to be happy with Ella Bella, whose models move to an extended remix of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.
As the evening draws to a close, Yoda makes his cameo with Ella Bella herself.
And by 9pm or so – Baja midnight – the show winds down.
