Thin cover. We’re seeing more and more of this, meaning fewer and fewer places to charge down. By 4 o’clock, the Big Air2 Men’s Finals are underway. Competitors are 18 and under. In the end, McLaughlin takes it with a high score of 84.0, edging out LaPlant’s 83.7 !!! Later, at the Silver Star Caf\u00e9 , we’re treated to awesome bluegrass selections from Rebekah Workman and husband Jake (not pictured; sorry Jake!) Saturday March 21 :: Canyons Resort<\/strong><\/p>\n Something’s afoot in the lineup for the gondola. It’s the annual pond skimming contest. Say hello to three fourths of Team Candy Land. That’s Queen Frostine on the left! Another blushing bride and unwitting husband, possibly here to celebrate Utah’s new equal rights legislation? The goal is to schuss down the snowy ramp and safely skim across to the other side of the pond. Which some contestants accomplish handily. Captain Hook hooks left and makes it almost onto the side but is certainly disqualified. Mr. Potato Head doesn’t make it far at all. Plenty of selfie sticks are on display, but they don’t guarantee victory. The snowlercoaster comprises three cardboard thrill-ride cars, each with a human and a sex doll. It fails, epically. Panda Man almost makes it, but not quite. There, there, big guy. Spectators also sport decorative accessories. After the splash fest, contestants call friends in far places to plug their accomplishments. Later, on the Tombstone Express, they’re breaking out the cheap Champagne. Snow is soft but makes for some pretty good carving… …although the writing is on the octagonal orange wall: This whole show will be ending soon. Or will it… ?? <\/p>\n Sunday March 22 :: Alta<\/strong><\/p>\n Mostly blue skies greet the people at this skiers-only area, considered by many to be without peer. A few kiddie costumes are evident. But mainly it’s serious skiers, as the skies darken throughout the day. Rumors of an overnight storm are shared on the lift.
