On The Road(s) To San Angelo :: Sept 30 ’15
After taking a five-month blogging hiatus to see what life in Utah is like (it’s prrretty good!), maybe it’s about time to get into a little driving, from Austin up to Park City in a gently used Santa Fe that just might be a good car for a snowy, mountainous winter. As usual, let’s stick to the two-laners.
It’s just about 240 miles to the city known as the Oasis of West Texas and the Mohair and Wool Capital of the World.

Llano, the Deer Capital of Texas.

Fredonia is OK, but Floresville is the actual Peanut Capital of Texas.

Brady, the True Heart of Texas.

Near Doole, which doesn’t have a nickname but seems to boast plenty of turkey vultures.

Eola, first known as Jordan, but changed its name to Eola in 1902.

Cotton is the biggest cash crop in Texas. Who knew? With more than 6 million acres devoted to cotton, Texas produces a quarter of the nation’s cotton.

Next up: Onward and downward to Carlsbad Caverns.
